the oxford English for carriers 1 book covers deferent topics and involves the language used in a variety of nursing context, such as the hospital team, in and around the hospital, accidents and emergencies, pain, symptoms, caring for the elderly, and nutrition and obesity. The book is designed to meet the language needs of nursing students who learn English to use it for communication in a specific professional situation. it focuses on the developing the four language skills(e.g. , specking, listening, writing, and reading)as well as grammar vocabulary and pronunciation.
أهداف المقرر
at the end of the course the student will be able to:
grammar: identify the present continuous, simple past, past continues, and present perfect tenses, uses of will, comparisons, preposition of place and movements.
vocabulary: identify and define the range of nursing vocabulary.
pronunciation: perceive and produce individual sounds (consonants, pure vowels, and diphthongs) in isolation as well as in content.
pronounce the English words including medical words correctly
place stress correctly on appropriate syllables and on words
reading: read and understand English texts.
grasp meaning of words and sentences from English texts
writing: write a patient summary, a pain report, an email job application, and an advice to a friend via email
spell the medical terms correctly
speaking: produce yes/ no and simple questions
provide appropriate responses to a simple questions
