This laboratory represents the first practical introduction to dealing with crime scenes and physical evidence. The course focuses on the fundamental principles and philosophy underlying forensic science, particularly Locard's Exchange Principle.
In this lab, students are trained in the initial steps of crime scene investigation: how to approach a crime scene, how to properly document it, and how to collect and package evidence using correct procedures that prevent contamination and preserve its legal value in court, in accordance with the Chain of Custody procedures.
