Speech of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Dr. Talal Al-Kamali, at the opening of the fifth Islam is Life Conference

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
And peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of creation, Muhammad, and upon his pure and good family and his chosen companions until the Day of Judgment.
Blessed attendees, honorable gentlemen, with due respect for titles and attributes
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you... May God welcome you and keep you, you are most welcome and have a comfortable stay.
First of all, I say: May Allah grant you great reward and recompense on the occasion of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, coinciding with the anniversary of the death of the Noble Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Honorable gentlemen: The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of the Heirs of the Prophets (peace be upon them), which derives the foundation of its aspirations that have been crowned with a bright reality from its ancient, supporting pillar, the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, was keen to be born from the womb of this authentic institution with what it carries of values, principles, approaches and contexts to continue holding its international conference (Islam is Life), and today it is holding it under the slogan (Human Rights and Contemporary Challenges). The conference has its creative role in organizing its activities in accordance with contemporary societal requirements at the scientific and global levels in light of the values and principles of Islam..... to believe that Islam is a way of life and the constitution of humanity..... All of this was a starting point for addressing the human rights file and the major challenges it faces at all levels, which these challenges lead to the degree of duality in those rights..... amidst silence that seems to be a systematic and deliberate silence that seeks to destroy the sound human nature, overturn logic, deceive the mind, and attract emotion, to lure souls into its abhorrent plan. Therefore, exerting effort has become a necessity that cannot be ignored; Because challenges do not stop at a limited limit, nor a confined goal, but rather they are a counter-current that seeks to destroy everything that leads to social reconciliation and its cohesion... reconciliation that brings society out of the reality of misleading and falsification... reconciliation that requires that it be with the person himself before it is with his rights. Unfortunately, this current seeks to drag us into the reality that we can describe with what God warned of, in His Almighty saying {And I will surely mislead them and arouse in them false desires and I will command them, so they will slit the ears of livestock and I will command them, so they will change the creation of God. And whoever takes Satan as an ally among {For whoever does not do good to Allah, he has certainly suffered a manifest loss} [An-Nisa: 119]. This is the work of Satan and the work of everyone who follows his path... who represents the opposite current, the current of destruction and exploitation of people and their enslavement in three systematic satanic steps: (misguidance and wishful thinking). After that comes his exploitative step, which is the matter according to his method and context, which he aspires to be in control of, dictating to his followers dissolution, licentiousness, perversion, and the loss of morals, and their lack of concern for building a valuable life, after they have lost the components of building a human personality... which is built on dignity, social cohesion, and respect for enlightened thought. These components that drag them down. To the path of salvation, happiness and liberation to rid himself of the self and the ego by abandoning the steps of Satan and the steps of those who followed his approach and worked in his context, and were carried away by his company and boarded his ship.
Gentlemen, in light of that, the necessity is based in this conference on the existence of a true and effective reconciliation between laws and regulations... and their application in a way that guarantees the preservation of human dignity and makes him feel that he is the entity that balances between the field of freedom of action and its restrictions..... and the field of educational obligations and its provisions, ..... as human rights are preserved on paper and in legislation, traditions and charters..... it is necessary for them to have a sponsor who achieves the field of balance between freedom of action and the imposition of educational provisions and the requirements of their procedural application on the ground and in any circumstance, whether temporal or spatial.
And as we seek to activate and achieve human rights under the slogan (Human Rights and Contemporary Challenges) through the conference’s axes in Quranic studies, the Noble Sunnah, Islamic thought...and philosophical studies, human rights in international covenants and his rights in the economic, political and legal fields, in addition to the social and cultural fields. The number and quantity of the research papers submitted to the conference reflected the interaction of good souls with a scientific nature and sharpened their resolve to find a solution to the problem and prove the identity of man to live in balanced freedom, seeking to enhance his rights. The submitted research papers were (one hundred and thirty-one) papers, and after the scientific evaluation and accuracy of the scientific review by the scientific evaluators, (forty) papers were rejected, due to the justifications of the scientific components for accepting or rejecting the research paper. The total number of accepted papers was (ninety-one) papers. In fact, gentlemen in attendance, our speech should not be devoid of what we acknowledge to those concerned of thanks and gratitude to those who supported the revival of this conference through participation, support and endorsement, represented by the major references to the title of the homeland from the countries of North Africa, Asia and Europe (Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey and Germany). All respect, appreciation, thanks and gratitude to the sponsoring body represented by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) for hosting and holding the conference activities. I would like to mention in particular His Eminence the Legal Custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) (Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i), the Secretary General, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abayji, and the rest of the officials, in addition to the sponsorship of the Presidency of the University of the Heirs of the Prophets (peace be upon them), the President, Assistants, Deans and the rest of the

The same thanks and appreciation are extended to the supervising universities that have strengthened the image of the conference and increased its importance and realism by joining it, as this joining represents a true recognition of achieving the conference's goals of focusing on human rights, activating the work of civil society organizations, balancing laws, and confronting the duality of dealing with the human rights file and sponsoring these laws...a true sponsorship based on the process of blending theory and application.
