Speech of Dr. Talal Al-Kamali, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee at the Honorary and Closing Ceremony of the "A Nation that Reads" Competition

Coinciding with the anniversary of the birth of the Master of Mankind, the Greatest Messenger Muhammad (PBUH), the birth of the fragrant breezes mixed with the intimacy of the Divine Presence, the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein concluded the "A Nation that Reads" competition, with the participation of 6,445 male and female students from 16 Iraqi governorates across 21 educational directorates, on Thursday, 15 Rabi` al-Awwal 1446 AH, corresponding to 9/19/2024.

The competition, which began in September 2023 and included 10 scientific axes (each axis 3 books) in social sciences and pure sciences, was the first of its kind in Iraq and was held with the aim of promoting purposeful reading and spreading knowledge among members of society.

Dr. Talal Al-Kamali, Chairman of the Competition Supervisory Committee, stressed in his speech during the closing ceremony that: "The Nation Reading Project expresses intellectual luxury and revitalization of the roots of thought rooted in a heritage and legacy that rises to the height of status that was honored by the radiant light, the sparkling abundance, and the heavenly message, because (Nation Reading) is the fruits that the enlightened ones reap by reviving thought from slumber and hibernation to ambition and honors."

She praised the efforts of the Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, represented by His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala'i, the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, Mr. Hassan Rashid, his deputies, the members of the Board of Directors, and the rest of the officials, may their successes continue.
Al-Kamali added that the Al-Abbas's Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, was keen to implement the competition with integrity and high transparency, with the formation of a joint specialized committee to evaluate the winners.

Al-Kamali pointed out that the competition witnessed high cognitive competition, as the winners were honored after precise evaluation stages, stressing that this cultural project contributes to confronting the intellectual challenges facing society, and encourages young people to continue seeking knowledge and learning.
