Brief Overview of the Scientific Affairs Division

The Scientific Affairs Division is affiliated at the university level with the esteemed Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs. The Division serves as a central hub for the university’s scientific outputs in the fields of scientific research, patents, and other scientific achievements.

Vision

To serve as a hub for distinguished scientific outputs, thereby enhancing the University’s excellence in scientific research and ensuring the availability of a comprehensive central database of relevant data and information.

Mission

To formulate and implement scientific and research plans and strategies in alignment with the University’s objectives and in support of community service.

Objectives

  1. Enhancing and consolidating the University’s scientific research outputs, promoting research ethics, establishing appropriate mechanisms to support scientific research, and encouraging researchers to publish high-quality scholarly work.
  2. Promoting and enhancing diverse scientific and intellectual activities and fostering opportunities for cooperation and academic twinning with universities, research centers, various governmental institutions, and scientific and cultural associations, while strengthening collaboration with these entities.
  3. Organizing and regulating the Division’s work in accordance with the foundations, instructions, and regulations issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research concerning scientific affairs.
  4. Developing innovative scientific activities and documenting data related to all of the University’s scientific activities, including conferences, workshops, and seminars, while monitoring their outcomes and disseminating them to ensure maximum possible benefit.
  5. Developing and monitoring academic curricula in accordance with the requirements of the labor market.
  6. Providing practical and scientific solutions to the challenges and problems facing society.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Scientific Affairs Division

The Scientific Affairs Division undertakes a range of key duties and responsibilities, including:

  1. Preparing and monitoring the scientific research plan for the University’s academic and administrative units.
  2. Monitoring the establishment and registration of the University’s scientific journals.
  3. Monitoring the plan for conferences, seminars, and workshops organized by the University’s academic and administrative units.
  4. Establishing new academic departments and scientific branches.
  5. Establishing research centers and research units.
  6. Administering the Warith National Award for Research Excellence.
  7. Monitoring and following up on patent applications and registrations.
  8. Supporting researchers who publish their scholarly work in internationally recognized indexing databases.
  9. Developing and following up on academic twinning agreements and joint cooperation agreements.
