University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa College of Science Organizes a Workshop on the Concepts of Radiotherapy for Cancer Patients

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance health and academic awareness, the College of Science at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (peace be upon him) organized a specialized workshop entitled “Concepts of Radiotherapy and Its Importance for Cancer Patients.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. (Asst. Prof.) Ahmed Mousa Jaafar, in the presence of a distinguished group of faculty members, students, and individuals interested in the medical and physical sciences fields.

The workshop addressed several precise scientific themes aimed at highlighting the pivotal role of medical physics in the treatment of cancer, including:

  • Introduction to Modern Techniques: A review of the latest devices used to accurately direct radiation beams toward tumors with high precision.

  • Mechanism of Radiation Therapy: An explanation of how radiation affects cancer cells, limits their spread, and preserves the surrounding healthy tissues.

  • Therapeutic Importance: Clarifying the role of radiotherapy as a primary treatment option, whether used alone or as a complementary approach alongside surgery and chemotherapy.

  • Psychological and Preventive Aspects: Preparing patients to accept treatment and effectively manage side effects.

This workshop comes as part of the College’s scientific program, which focuses on linking educational outcomes with the needs of healthcare institutions, in support of treatment and rehabilitation efforts for cancer patients in Iraq.
