The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) concluded its second national research competition by awarding prizes to the top researchers. The competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and was overseen by the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH). In attendance were the Secretary General of the PBUH, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abaiji, the Undersecretary of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dahd, the University President, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hayawi, and several other scientific, academic, social, and religious figures.
In his speech to the audience Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abaiji, the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH), emphasised the Holy Shrine's support for this award as well as the need to pay attention to the scientific aspect by writing sound scientific research, which advances the nation and helps it overcome its problems, in accordance with the directives of His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, the legal guardian of the Holy Shrine (may he ever be honoured).
Al-Abaiji continued, "Today, Karbala is distinguished not only by the scientific aspect but also by the health aspect, as evidenced by the construction of hospitals and health centres and the influx of foreign physicians who come to contribute their expertise in both science and practice."
The University President, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hayawi, emphasised to the audience during his speech that this award, the first of its kind in Iraq, was created to support researchers, "particularly young researchers, as they had a special focus on the award, which is the youth focus," and to motivate them to make an effort and contribute to solving societal problems. The advancement of the scientific and academic movements in our beloved nation is facilitated by scientific research, and we aim to maintain this competitiveness by providing the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine (PBUH) with funding that advances the mission of reliable educational institutions.
