Preamble and Vision

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa believes that the quality of education and scientific research is founded upon the principles of intellectual integrity and ethical responsibility. This Charter constitutes a binding document that establishes the ethical framework governing our academic community—including faculty members, researchers, and students—and sets forth the standards that safeguard the University's scholarly output while strengthening its standing within national and international academic circles.

First: Ethical Foundations of the Digital and Academic Environment

Academic activities at the University are grounded in four fundamental principles that are binding upon every member of the University community:

  1. Intellectual Originality: Commitment to producing original scholarly work that genuinely reflects the efforts of the researcher or student, while ensuring accurate and explicit attribution of all borrowed ideas, texts, or materials to their original sources.

  2. Transparency in Assessment: Ensuring that all academic activities, examinations, and research are evaluated according to fair, transparent, and publicly communicated criteria that prevent discrimination and guarantee equal opportunities.

  3. Academic Citizenship: Recognizing each individual's responsibility to uphold and protect the academic reputation of the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa by refraining from any conduct that may undermine its educational environment or scholarly integrity.

  4. Digital Integrity: Protecting the University's data and digital learning platforms and demonstrating the same level of honesty and discipline in online examinations and assignments as is expected in supervised, in-person academic settings.

Second: Classification of Academic Integrity Violations

The University classifies the following practices as explicit violations of this Academic Integrity Charter:

  • Plagiarism and Unauthorized Intellectual Appropriation: Copying or presenting ideas, texts, data, engineering designs, medical content, or other intellectual works as one's own without proper academic citation in accordance with approved scholarly and plagiarism-detection standards.

  • Digital Impersonation and Unauthorized Use of Generative Technologies: Submitting assignments, reports, or research papers that have been wholly generated through artificial intelligence tools or external academic writing services while falsely claiming them as personal work.

  • Research Duplication (Self-Plagiarism): Republishing the same research work, or substantial parts thereof, in more than one scholarly outlet (such as journals or conferences), or submitting the same work to multiple academic courses for repeated academic credit without formal authorization.

  • Fabrication and Falsification of Research Evidence: Inventing laboratory results, manipulating statistical data, or altering field survey findings to support predetermined hypotheses in scholarly research.

  • Academic Collusion: Facilitating cheating by providing answers, reports, assignments, or other academic materials to assist others in fulfilling academic requirements through unauthorized or dishonest means.

Third: Technical and Administrative Oversight Framework

To preserve the quality and credibility of its academic output, the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa employs advanced monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, including:

  • Mandatory Plagiarism Screening: All research papers, theses, dissertations, and graduation projects must undergo plagiarism detection through the centralized software system approved by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research before they may be defended, evaluated, or published.

  • Research Integrity and Ethics Committees: Permanent specialized committees are established at the college level to review the originality of medical, engineering, and humanities research and to ensure compliance with research ethics prior to the commencement of research activities.

Fourth: Procedural and Disciplinary Measures

Where any violation of this Charter is substantiated, the case shall be referred to the University's competent legal committees for the implementation of disciplinary measures in accordance with the applicable laws and ministerial regulations in force in the Republic of Iraq.

  1. Student Disciplinary Procedures: Sanctions may range from an initial warning, cancellation of assessment marks, or failure in the relevant course, to permanent dismissal from the University in cases involving deliberate forgery or academic plagiarism.

  2. Faculty Members and Researchers: Research misconduct shall be addressed in accordance with the State Employees Discipline Law and the ministerial regulations governing academic promotion. Sanctions may include withdrawal of the published research, suspension of academic promotion or rank, and legal as well as administrative accountability.

Fifth: Institutional Commitment to Awareness and Education

The University's policy extends beyond disciplinary measures. Through its academic departments and the Center for Continuing Education, the University is committed to organizing regular workshops that train students and researchers in internationally recognized citation and referencing styles (such as APA, IEEE, and Vancouver) and in scholarly writing techniques that promote academic originality and prevent plagiarism, thereby fostering a creative, ethical, and intellectually vibrant academic environment.
