The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa in Iraq is committed to reducing its carbon footprint through strategic initiatives aimed at sustainability and responsible resource management. Carbon Footprint Overview (2023)

In the past year, the university’s total carbon footprint was calculated at 51.972 metric tons. This includes emissions from various sources:

  • Electricity Usage: 19.572 metric tons
  • University Bus Fleet: 3.6 metric tons
  • Private Cars: 24 metric tons
  • Motorcycles: 4.8 metric tons
  • Solar Energy Infrastructure

1.1 Comprehensive Solar PV Power Stations:
To minimize our dependence on conventional energy sources, the university has invested in extensive solar energy infrastructure. Solar PV power stations, with a combined capacity of 9200 kW, are distributed across the campus. These stations are strategically positioned to capture maximum sunlight, providing a substantial portion of the campus's energy needs through clean, renewable power. This solar infrastructure is a key component of our GHG reduction strategy, lowering both emissions and energy costs.

1.2 Rooftop Solar Panels:
Solar panels have been installed on the rooftops of major campus buildings, such as the Al-Ola, Al-Isma, and College of Law buildings. These installations ensure that the university's energy needs are met sustainably, further reducing our reliance on non-renewable sources and lowering GHG emissions associated with traditional energy generation.
