The University of Warith Al-Anbyiaa Launches the Warith Islamic Educational Bank to Enhance Banking Training

In the presence of the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, Professor Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji, the Assistant to the University President, and the Deans of the Colleges, the University of Warith Al-Anbyiaa inaugurated the Warith Islamic Educational Bank at the College of Islamic Sciences / Department of Islamic Financial and Banking Sciences.
The project aims to strengthen the practical aspect of student learning and to prepare them for the labour market. It provides a training environment that simulates real banking operations and supports the development of professional and practical skills in the financial and banking sector.
This initiative represents a significant step in supporting applied education and enhancing the quality of the University’s graduates. Skills Workshops at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa Support Students During Exam Season

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, represented by the Social Research Unit, in cooperation with the Directorate of Youth and Sports / Martyrs Youth Forum, organised a specialised training programme for female students residing in university accommodation, aimed at developing practical skills and supporting mental well-being during the examination period, in a step that enhances the quality of the learning environment.
The programme included two training workshops focused on developing life and creative skills. The first workshop introduced the basics of knitting within student accommodation, while the second focused on artificial flower-making, held at the Martyrs Youth Forum. It also included a guided tour of a permanent exhibition showcasing innovative artistic models, which contributed to fostering creativity among participants.
This programme forms part of the Social Research Unit’s strategy to develop students’ skills and discover their talents, while providing effective psychological support to help reduce exam-related stress and encourage a more balanced and positive approach to academic preparation.

Emergency and First Aid Workshop for Medical Students at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa organised a training workshop for fourth-year students in the College of Medicine entitled “Emergency Centres and First Aid”, delivered by Nusrat Al-Attar, with the aim of developing students’ skills in working within emergency settings and mass casualty care.
The workshop covered procedures for managing incidents during large-scale gatherings, including mass casualty management, as well as training in measuring vital signs and applying rapid response techniques in emergency situations. This contributed to enhancing students’ readiness for fieldwork with a high level of competence.

University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa Holds Seminar on the Risks of Cyber Extortion and Prevention Strategies

The College of Nursing at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, in cooperation with the Karbala Directorate of National Security, organised an awareness seminar on cyber extortion, as part of its efforts to enhance community awareness among students and protect them from the risks of the digital environment.
The seminar addressed the main methods of cyber extortion and ways to prevent it, alongside a range of security, technical, and legal guidelines designed to enable students to respond effectively to such threats. It also introduced the relevant authorities and official hotlines responsible for handling these cases.
This activity forms part of the University’s efforts to promote a culture of digital safety and strengthen legal awareness among students, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through supporting community security and legal awareness. University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa Provides Specialised Training in AI Prompt Engineering for Students

The College of  Modern Technologies organised a specialised training course entitled “Prompt Engineering in Artificial Intelligence”, targeting students from the Departments of Robotics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, and Digital Health Technologies, alongside the participation of Artificial Intelligence students from the College of Computer Science and Information Technology. The course was delivered by Mr Ahmed Al-Siddiq.
The course focused on developing applied skills in the use of artificial intelligence tools, particularly prompt engineering techniques, which are increasingly recognised as essential competencies in the labour market. This contributes to enhancing students’ technical capabilities and preparing them to keep pace with rapid digital developments.

Warith Al-Anbiyaa Honors Winners of the Artificial Intelligence Competition

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) held an official ceremony to honour the winners of the 2024 Warith Al-Anbiyaa Artificial Intelligence Applications Competition, organised under the theme “Innovative Intelligence for Sustainable Solutions”. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, and in the presence of the Deputy Minister, Dr Haider Abdul Dhahad, with direct supervision from the University President, Professor Dr Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi. The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members and experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
The competition saw the participation of 94 projects submitted by students and researchers representing over 22 Iraqi universities and was structured around three primary thematic tracks. During the event, the top three winning projects in each track were announced as follows:
Engineering Applications Track:
First Place: UAV-Based Fire Detection Using CNN Pretrained Model – Ibn Sina University for Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Al-Nahrain University.
Second Place: An Early Detection Technique for Autism Diagnosis Using Optimal EEG Feature Extraction Methods – University of Kufa, University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa.
Third Place: AI-Mpox: A Machine Learning-Based Approach for Early Detection and Diagnosis of Monkeypox – University – University of Baghdad.
Security and Robotics Applications Track:
First Place: Reliable Deep Learning Framework for the Ground Penetrating Radar Data to Locate the Horizontal Variation in Levee Soil Compaction – University of Sumer, Imam Al-Sadiq University.
Second Place: Automated Turning Operations Based on Feature Recognition and Image Processing – University of Technology.
Third Place: AI-Based Healthcare Chatbot for Natural Medical Consultations – University of Anbar.
Veterinary and Agricultural Applications Track:
First Place: Artificial Intelligence-Based Modelling of Novel Non-Thermal Milk Pasteurisation to Achieve Desirable Colour and Predict Quality Parameters During Storage – University of Baghdad, University of Basrah.
Second Place: Plant Diseases and Pests Recognition Project Based on Deep Learning Approach – University of Anbar.

Minister Follows Up on Launch of Excellence and AI Colleges at University of Baghdad

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, chaired a meeting to follow up on preparations for the launch of the Colleges of Excellence and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad, as part of the ministry’s plans for the 2025–2026 academic year.
During the meeting, the minister emphasised the importance of aligning with global advancements in academic fields and creating a learning environment rooted in innovation and specialised knowledge. The College of Excellence will include programmes in applied information, business administration, e-commerce, accounting, banking, sociology, philosophy, and data science. The College of Artificial Intelligence will offer programmes focused on engineering applications, biomedical technologies, and smart data systems.
This initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to advancing the quality of higher education, promoting research and innovation in emerging technologies, and fostering institutional collaboration. The Riyada Initiative

The Riyada initiative, launched by the Iraqi government, aims to empower youth by providing training and support for entrepreneurship. University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa was the first university in Karbala, Iraq, to collaborate and be part of this initiative. In 2024, over 53,000 individuals were trained, with 8,130 participants benefiting from loans. The initiative registered 424,749 participants, creating 10,000+ job opportunities. Its key goals include equipping youth with skills for the labour market, encouraging entrepreneurship, fostering innovation, and boosting Iraq’s economy. The programme offers training, mentorship, and government-backed loans to support small businesses, ensuring long-term sustainability. Riyada also promotes collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive economic growth and employment.
Achievements of the Initiative at University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa
The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa witnessed wide participation in the “Riyada” initiative, achieving the following milestones:
Number of training courses held at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University: 22 courses.
Letters of appreciation were received by the university from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Advisor, Dr Hussein Falamrz.
Number of participants in the training courses: 440 trainees.
Number of successful projects qualified: 187 projects.
These figures reflect the strong engagement with the initiative and its success in achieving its goals, as more than 40% of participants were able to develop viable and sustainable projects.
